Michael Koehler is a professional photographer in New Jersey with over thirty years of experience, working between his New York City studio and the Tri-State area. He has spent his career shooting both film and digital, remaining deeply committed to the craft and constantly producing new work.

From a young age, Michael knew he wanted to be a photographer. He remembers developing film for his brother in a black-and-white darkroom, where the safelight glow and the chemical smells proved intoxicating. The entire process captivated him and confirmed his path. Even being kicked out of his first photography class did not deter him. While attending trade school during high school, he learned the foundations of his craft.

After graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Michael moved to New York City, where he began working as a professional photographic printer. At one of New York’s leading photographic labs, LTI, he worked alongside fine artists and commercial photographers, overseeing every stage of film processing and printing. Over eighteen years, he became one of the most sought-after printers in the field.

Today, Michael has returned to photographing full-time. He enjoys working closely with clients in the studio, as well as documenting weddings and events with care and precision. With a discerning eye and exceptional timing, he captures what others often miss. Whether in the studio or on the dance floor, Michael photographs with professionalism, giving every shoot the time and attention required to create memorable, timeless images.
